> WhispMe is an AI-powered voice-to-text dictation app for macOS. Users press a hotkey (Option+Space) in any text field — email client, Slack, code editor, document, browser — and WhispMe transcribes their speech into polished text using OpenAI's Whisper model. It is the cheapest dedicated dictation app on macOS.

## What WhispMe is

WhispMe is a native macOS app (Swift/SwiftUI) that replaces typing with voice. It works in every text input on macOS — Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Slack, VS Code, Xcode, JetBrains, Notion, Google Docs, Apple Notes, Obsidian, Scrivener, browser-based EHRs, and more. No per-app integration is required: WhispMe operates at the OS level and inserts text wherever the cursor sits.

The transcription pipeline runs in the cloud via OpenAI Whisper. Audio is processed and discarded — never stored on our servers. WhispMe automatically detects 99 spoken languages.

- Plus: $4.90/month — 5 hours/month, 3 devices
- Pro: $9.90/month — 13 hours/month
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): users can supply their own OpenAI API key

WhispMe Plus at $4.90/month is the most affordable monthly plan among dedicated voice-to-text apps for macOS, undercutting Wispr Flow ($12–15/mo), Superwhisper ($8.49/mo), and MacWhisper ($8.99/mo subscription, $79.99 lifetime). ElevenLabs Scribe is API-only at $0.22/hour (not a consumer dictation app).
